Fear the Spear and Go 'Noles!
I did a lot during my time in Florida State University. My experiences there, both academic and extracurricular, molded me into the adult that I am today. Mechanical Engineering was a journey on its own; here are some of the things I was able to do and take away from from College of Engineering and FSU.

Mechanical Engineering, Florida State University
Since an early age, I’ve always been fascinated by the sciences and intrigued by how things worked; from taking apart toys to experimenting with random things around the house, I was always trying to figure things out. I was handy and creative, yet logical and scientific. My parents being science majors might've had something to do with it. The scientific method and imperial logic were always encouraged during my upbringing; almost seems like destined to do engineering from the get go. In the year 2010, I decided to attend FSU where would begin working diligently towards this goal. Fast forward five years to the Spring of 2015 and I am walking across the stage receiving a diploma for successfully graduating as a Mechanical Engineer. And just like that, another engineer in the San Segundo family.

Senior Thesis Project
In mechanical engineering, just like in many other STEM majors, one needs to complete a year-long, senior design project exemplifying all of the necessary skills needed to graduate in that particular field. In our case, we had to design, build, and test a human powered vehicle that we called The Pedibus. The vehicle was sponsored by Capital City Pedicabs whom aspired to have the Pedibus as part of their fleet by the end of our senior year. The challenge was a to build a pedal-powered vehicle that could be easily operated around the city, would also serve as a bar on wheels, and could be towed to other towns. Sounds easier than it was. Hundreds of hours of design and calculations added to over 400 hours in the machine shop, the Pedibus proved to be a behemoth of a project. No match for the dream team, we completed the project successfully by year and passed the Sr. Design project with an honorary mention.

Life at FSU
Sperry’s and tank tops as far as the eye can see, beautiful red brick buildings everywhere, and a passion for Seminole football bigger that the state itself. These are some of the things that characterize Florida State University and its culture as a school. Aside the amazing academics and groundbreaking research facilities, FSU is one of the most unique campuses in the United States. There was always something to do and some way to get involved. What an unbelievable experience and what a great school. I would not trade my years there for anything. Don’t worry, I know FSU is known for being nuts; I’ll keep the stories PG.
